While the voltage gauge is at 0v, and the engine is still running, i pop the hood and put a battery/charging system tester on the battery terminals and the tester shows that the alternator isSOURCE: Jeep Headlights not working. High beam works. had the same problem on my 92.check under the hood on the drivers side, towards the front, there is a "junction box" with all of the lighting wires connecting from the switches to the lights. My wires were all corroded inside,so I cleaned the ends and bought a new box from the local electronic supply store. The problem has not come back. When temperatures reach above 60° C (140° F), or if the sensor is shorted 60° C (130/140° F) will appear in the display in place of the actual temperature. When temps fall below - 40° C (- 40° F) or if the sensor has an open circuit, - - ° C (- - ° F) will be displayed on the EVIC. Depending on you situation this may be the cause.
Put the parking brake on, shift the tranny to N, and the transfer case to the middle position if equipped. Remove the entire console. Slide the shifter beezel as far up vertically as you can. There are 4 clips you ned to remove to do it. You will see a blue and black wire running into the back.
Turn the ignition key until the digital odometer displays, repeat three times in succession and then back to "On" (On/Off, On/Off, On/Off, On). At the fourth "On" the odometer will be replaced with codes. If no codes are present then "Done" will appear. This doesn't work either (it previously did).Year: 1991 2-Door. Model: Cherokee. Engine: 4.0 liter. When I installed my new stereo after putting it all back together I kept blowing a fuse for the dash lights. Turned out to be a wire that was probably for the switch for something that was removed, it was open and touching the frame in the dash.
